Getting Settled

Deb arrived in Sydney on Wednesday the 4th, and started moving into our apartment a bit each day after work.  I got in on Monday the 9th, just missing Deb’s birdthday, and what sounded like a wonderful harbor cruise on the new boat of a Sydney Googler.  But I came bearing small, packable presents, and one day soon we’re going to take a Ferry over to some of the nice beaches nearby.

Since I arrived, we’ve rearranged the furniture in our little furnished apartment, and organized a bit.  We now have local sim cards in our unlocked phones, unlimited weekly transit passes, and an internet connection for the apartment.

We’re even learning how to forage for food at the local grocery stores!  The ones we’ve found so far are a bit supermarkety, so we plan to go exploring for something more like a Trader Joe’s or Whole Foods.

The exploring and the excellent public transit, the plastic money and unfamiliar bird sounds are all very exciting.  But as is to be expected one week into a trip like this, I’m not feeling quite at home just yet.

As I’m learning more about our surroundings, stocking the apartment with food, swimming in our apartment’s pool, and getting all unpacked though, I can feel myself getting a bit more familiar and comfortable here, which is nice.
